Updates in regards to email notifications and revamp of the HSNet web site

You may have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of emails you receive from HSNet. Since we activated email notification changes to the HSNet site, the activity on the site increased, as did subsequently the number of email notifications sent to members. In response to user feedback we realised that we needed to bring forward our plans for the new version of the site to give users more control over how they receive notifications.

Although the notifications have proven to be very popular, the quantity has been too high for some members, so we have now introduced Daily and Weekly Digests options (as well as keeping the Individual notification option). We have also created a single page where you can set up individual email options for each of your Groups.  We are in the final stages of testing and the new-look email notifications will be coming soon.

We are still at work on the revamp of the HSNet website, recently installing our chosen Content Management System (Kentico). We have been writing new content and migrating the old, and are developing our 'white site' for testing.

If you are interested in contributing or have any suggestions, you might want to join the HSNet Redevelopment Group. Alternatively you may wish to contact our HSNet Support Desk on (02) 9228 4200 or send an email to hsnet@hsnet.nsw.gov.au

New improvements to the display of Service information in ServiceLink directory

The HSNet team has recently implemented changes to the way Service information is displayed in ServiceLink. We hope the new features will assist you to more easily find the right service for your client. You will notice the following improvements:

  • in addition to Outlet Service Types, a service name or summary is displayed to help distinguish between services
  • the ability to View individual Service descriptions
  • the ability to Expand All Service descriptions

Please refer to the factsheet Making it easier to find the right Service for your client if you would like further information.

35,000 records located in the ServiceLink directory

ServiceLink logoThe HSNet team is happy to announce that the ServiceLink directory now contains 35,000 records (outlets and services) in total. This is a major milestone for the team, as we have come a long way since the launch of the ServiceLink in December 2005 when the directory contained 12,000 records.

The HSNet team, working with our contracted content maintainer, Infoxchange, will continue adding and amending human services information to ServiceLink.

If you would like to enter your organisation’s details in ServiceLink please complete the data collection forms A and B which are available for download from the
HSNet public web site Support/ServiceLink page and the HSNet web site.

If your organisation's information is already available on ServiceLink and requires amendment, please email the HSNet team with the name of your organisation and the updates you require.

RAC Referral Project

The Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADHC) has initiated HSNet’s first large e-Referral pilot with a focus in the Newcastle/Hunter region. Services participating in this pilot include Home Care Referral and Assessment Centre (RAC), the Commonwealth Carelink and Carer Respite Centre Hunter, Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie Community Options Programs and Novacare.

An exciting new development for HSNet is the use of ServiceLink e-Referrals sent and received in The Care Manager (TCM), the Client Management System (CMS) used by Novacare and Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie Community Options Programs.

HSNet is looking forward to the evaluation of this project, and anticipates that the participants will provide important feedback, given that it is the first pilot of its kind using ServiceLink and an external CMS.

Conferences: Sydney Carex 2007 and GPs Vital Links

HSNet display table at Sydney Carex 2007 expoRecently the HSNet team attended Sydney Carex 2007, a two day expo showcasing Australia’s innovative Health & Aged care products, services and information; and the GPs VitalLinks conference.

At the Carex, HSNet team took the opportunity to interact with the expo attendees and exhibitors to promote the benefits of the HSNet website and its tools to health and aged care workers from across the state. Team members were able to supply HSNet material, provide live demonstrations to showcase features of the site and register new members.

At the VitalLinks, Maree Callinan, HSNet Manager presented a paper about HSNet and ServiceLink which has generated a lot of interest from various Divisions of GP, particularly WentWest Limited. HSNet is continuing to work closely with WentWest on how GPs can best use ServiceLink.
