Welcome to the first HSNet eBulletin for 2007

This year we are planning a number of new and exciting initiatives which the HSNet team would like to share with you.

  • HSNet members will be receiving the eBulletin on a bi-monthly basis from February.
  • Workshops covering the use of HSNet, ServiceLink and
e-Referrals have been scheduled throughout the year to coincide within 4 to 6 weeks of each eBulletin release so that we can remind you when registration for each workshop is due. The workshops are free of charge and are available to staff of non-government and government human service agencies.
  • This month we will be holding an Expo of Client Management Systems which can send and receive electronic referrals through ServiceLink.

Later this year HSNet will have a face-lift so that HSNet tools and resources are easier to locate and use. Some of you are currently helping the HSNet team with the structure and navigation of the new look HSNet and we would like to thank you for your time and input.

The team at HSNet are also open to new ideas, so if you have any suggestions on how HSNet can support your service or interagency to assist your clients, please contact the ServiceDesk on (02) 9228 4200 or send an email to hsnet@hsnet.nsw.gov.au

CMS Vendor Expo held on the 22 February 2007

Human Services Network is organising an expo featuring the client management system (CMS) vendors who have proved their systems can send and receive electronic referrals through ServiceLink (‘compliant’ vendors).  The expo is being held primarily to assist NGOs approved for the CMS Subsidy to choose a CMS that will meet their needs, but any NSW human services NGO can attend.

Currently there are four vendors which are both compliant and contracted, that is they have signed a contract with the State Contracts Control Board (SCCB), and from whom a system can be purchased.  They are:

  • Community Ventures and Alliances Pty Ltd (CMS: PLACE)
  • Database Consultants Australia (CMS: The Care Manager)
  • Hyro Pty Ltd (CMS: Athena)
  • Prowess Development Pty Ltd (CMS: Prowess Community Suite)

There are another two vendors which have proved compliance but have not yet signed the contract with the SCCB:

  • Third Sector Software (CMS: The Non-Profit Activity Information System (N-PAIS)
  • Orion Enterprise Business Solutions Pty Ltd (CMS: Microsoft CRM)

Another CMS vendor which is working towards being compliant and contracted by the end of February is Infoxchange (CMS: S2S)

HSNet expects that all seven CMS vendors will be exhibiting their systems and demonstrating the ability to send and receive electronic referrals through ServiceLink. NGO representatives will have the opportunity to view and compare the systems in the one place and speak directly with the vendors.

We have compiled a list of FAQs below to help your organisation decide whether the CMS Expo will be a useful event to attend.

Who should attend the expo?

NGOs approved for the CMS Subsidy and any Human Service Organisation which would like to view and compare CMSs which have interfaced with ServiceLink and therefore can send and receive electronic referrals through ServiceLink.

When is the expo being held?

The expo will be held Thursday 22 February 2007 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Where is the expo being held?

Large Training Room Level 3 Bligh House 4-6 Bligh Street Sydney

How do I get to the expo?

Bligh House is located close to Wynyard Station. Take the George Street Exit and walk straight up Hunter Street to the intersection with Bligh Street, turn left on to Bligh Street. Bligh House entrance is located between a small art gallery and the Ministry of Food Café.

Is the expo open to all Human Service Organisations or is this event only for the NGOs approved to receive the HSNet subsidy?

Representatives from any Human Service Organisations are eligible to attend.

How can I register for the expo?

To register, please contact the Service Desk on (02) 9228 4200 or send an email to hsnet@hsnet.nsw.gov.au

The information we need includes: your First Name, Last Name, Telephone, Organisation Name, Position, Email address, Accessibility requirements, and whether your organisation was approved to receive the CMS subsidy.

HSNet Workshops 2007

The Human Services Network will be running a number of workshops throughout this year covering use of HSNet, ServiceLink, e-Referrals, Groups and Forums. Participants will have a ‘hands on’ opportunity to gain skills in making the most of all the resources available through HSNet.

The next workshop will be held on 23 March 2007 at Bligh House in Sydney. We can accommodate up to 12 participants per session. Workshops are free of charge.

Please refer to the HSNet Workshop Outline, to view workshop details and to register.

If you are located regionally and cannot attend a Sydney-based workshop we are happy to provide a training session in your area as long as there is a training facility we can use and there are enough human service workers to fill a session.

The HSNet workshops are also ideal for interagency groups who may be considering the use of HSNet resources such as groups and forums or e-Referrals.

Group email notifications

Due to recent changes made to our group email alert feature on HSNet, current and new Group members will now receive an email notification when new information is posted in the Discussion Forum, Events or Document section of the group you are member of. The email notification will then prompt the member to login to HSNet and view the information.

Group members have the option to turn on and turn off the group email alert at any time. To turn on or off email alert, open the group you are a member of and click on the Group Email sub-menu, click on the Subscribe button to receive email alerts or Unsubscribe to cancel receiving the email alerts for that group.

Please refer to factsheet, Group email alerts for Group Members, for further details.

If you would like further information, please contact the Service Desk on (02) 9228 4200 or send an email to hsnet@hsnet.nsw.gov.au

Introducing new members of HSNet Team

Image

HSNet would like to welcome Margaret Colquhoun to the ServiceDesk Co-ordinator position at HSNet. Margaret will be providing information and support to users who call the HSNet Service Desk. Margaret has over five years of experience providing desktop support to Central Corporate Services Unit (CCSU) users.

Some HSNet users will have spoken with Conor Holmes recently. He's been with HSNet for a few months updating Department of Health records in ServiceLink. In that short time he's been through all of the Health Outlets and Services that HSNet maintains (that's several thousand records!), dramatically improving the consistency and accuracy of Hospitals and Community Health Centres. We would like to thank Conor for all the hard work and wish him every success in his future endeavours.
